VOODOO JAY

Music from the wreckage of everything that tried to silence him.

Voodoo Jay is a producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Montréal. A city that shaped him, and a music institution that once told him he didn't belong. He took that rejection personally. He still does.

What followed was a self-taught obsession: guitar, voice, synths, samplers, now drums. A restless ear that pulls equally from old samba and jazz records, software synthesis, and whatever feeling is too large to name. His music doesn't live in one genre because he doesn't. You'll hear traces of Stromae's theatrical melancholy, KAYTRANADA's rhythmic instinct, the psychedelic weight of Daft Punk, the raw nerve of Kendrick; and something that belongs to none of them.

His upcoming album was born out of limerence; the kind that hollows you out and rewrites who you thought you were. A person who didn't stay, and months of obsession that followed. Rather than wait to recover, he recorded through it. Part catharsis, part limerence, part vengeance, part foolish hope. The album is his attempt to process what language alone couldn't hold.
